The Manchester United Foundation annual Santa Run takes place on Sunday 5th December 2010.
Dozens of Santas will descend upon Old Trafford to take part in an annual fun run to raise money for the Manchester United Foundation and other charities. First up will be the 5k ‘Serious Santa’ challenge, in which runners follow a route around Salford Quays before heading back towards the stadium. That will be followed at noon by the 2K family run that will be started once again by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and members of his Reserves squad who, along with club mascot Fred the Red, will be on hand to offer support to competitors.
Both races will finish inside the stadium, with participants running down the players’ tunnel as they complete a finishing lap of the pitch.
Youngsters will be performing Christmas carols around the ground throughout the event, while the Foundation’s football coaches will be holding skills sessions. Children will also be able to pay a visit to Father Christmas’s grotto.
Entry costs £10 for adults and £5 for children (children must be accompanied by an adult), each competitor will receive a Santa suit. Family entry is available at £20 (2 adults, 2 children)
Entrants can run for The Christie Charity, Francis House Children’s Hospice, Unicef, MU Foundation, the British Heart Foundation or a charity of choice.
