The Headington 10k has been an annual event since 2005 and is held the weekend after the August Bank Holiday. It takes place near Worminghall, Buckinghamshire, approx 6 miles east of Oxford city, partly on a disused airfield and partly on quiet local roads.
For those wishing to use satnav systems, the entrance to the race is 200m south east of HP18 9JX (or exactly at SP 637091). Please note: you cannot access the race through the airfield – only via public roads through the official entrance.
There are no hills and the course is almost flat, so there is good potential for a PB if the weather conditions permit. Indeed, the race was recently pulled out in the top 10 races with PB potential by readers of Runners World. The course is a single lap which starts and finishes at the same point, adjacent to the Race HQ & car park. The course also passes very close to the car park at about 3.5km, making it ideal for spectators who can see the race in progress as well as the start and finish with ease.
At the Race HQ area is a dry secure baggage storage area, toilets, water and tea / coffee / refreshments on sale. We aim to have enough fresh fruit for all race finishers and home-made cakes always prove very popular!
The course is run under SEAA rules and there is the usual first aid cover. In aid of OXSRAD centre in MArston, Oxford, and Thomley Activity Centre, Worminghall.
