ARCHIVED RACE: City of Norwich Half Marathon @ Norfolk Showground, Norwich, Sunday 29 November 2009

City of Norwich AC welcomes you to the City of Norwich Half Marathon, sponsored for a third year in 2009 by chartered accountants Larking Gowen.

This event was first staged in 1985 and so this year marks our 25th anniversary. It’s a UKA / BARR Gold Grade event, which means it’s organised to the highest standards recognised in the UK. In 2008 nearly 2,700 signed up to take part and we hope that number will rise to around 3,000 this year.

Previously held on a variety of courses based in Norwich city centre, we moved the event to the Norfolk Showground in 1993 and it’s been there ever since. The race is now run on a rural two-lap course which starts and finishes within the Showground itself and follows a reasonably flat route through the villages of Easton, Colton, Marlingford and Bawburgh. The course record currently stands at 63mins 59secs and last year’s race was won by Matthew Janes from Bedford & County AC in 65mins 44secs.

Our chosen charity for 2009 is East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and we hope you will do all you can to support the work of this excellent organisation.

Entry to this year’s race is now open. We’d much prefer if you entered online and it’s £2 cheaper than applying by post. Every finisher will receive a commemorative medal and goody bag. Please note that there will be no entries available to purchase on race day.
