Race Description

Since 2000, AstraZeneca Legs for Literacy has grown into the largest running event in New Brunswick, with close to 2000 registrations in all events in 2011! We feature four races – 5k, 10k, half and full marathons (we also include a 10k nordic walk event). They start on Main Street and continue through the city of Moncton to our trail system which takes runners through the neighboring communities of Riverview and Dieppe, returning to the finish line on Main Street. The course is relatively flat except for the marathon route which has a few gentle hills in Dieppe. We are a Boston Qualifier certified Course
Race Weekend includes a 3K fun run on Friday, a children’s athletic event at our Moncton Stadium on Saturday, and an expo and pasta supper at the host hotel also on Saturday. Sunday the starts are staggered with the 5K and 10K going first at 8:05, followed by the Half and Full at 8:15.

We have been blesssed with many volunteers that line the course with water stops, cheer stations, and sometimes a few surprises.
The race is in support of local literacy projects with $53,000 donated in 2011.
