Race Description

General Information
Race Information:
The Pumpkinman Long Course is a half iron distance race consisting of a two lap swim course totaling 1.2 miles, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run with a field size of 550 participants. The race starts at 7:00 AM on Sunday, September 9th, 2012 at the Spring Hill Lodge in South Berwick, ME. There is no rain date and race management reserves the right to modify or shorten the race course in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, and to accept or reject any entry. No transfers or substitutions. The minimum age to compete is 15.

Aqua Bike Information:
The Pumpkinman Aqua Bike is a half iron distance race consisting of a two lap swim course totaling 1.2 miles and 56 mile bike. The race starts at 7:00 AM on Sunday, September 9th, 2012 at the Spring Hill Lodge in South Berwick, ME. There is no rain date and race management reserves the right to modify or shorten the race course in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, and to accept or reject any entry. No transfers or substitutions. The minimum age to compete is 15.

Race Amenities:
Each competitor will receive a technical t-shirt, a custom one-of-a-kind triathlete travel bag, imprinted swim cap, cash and custom awards, massage services by Shawn Crotto, and a complimentary post-race New England style dinner. We will have Tri and Du It Multisport timing with LIVE athlete tracking and chip timing, race announcing by Andy Schachat, and music by Presentense. There will be boat, motorcycle and sag vehicle support, USAT Officials and Marshalls, the seacoast’s best volunteers and an amazing and safe race course!

Post Race Dinner for Athletes:
Following the Long Course/Half Iron distance race, athletes will treated to a New England Harvest Style feast provided by the Spring Hill Restaurant. There will also be a cash bar and beer tent by Shipyard Brewery. Family members and spectators can order this dinner for an additional cost of $28 for adults or $16 for children under 12. Dinner will begin at noon. Tickets must be pre-ordered. The dinner will include the following:

Stuffing
Gravy (gluten free also available)
Green Beans
Squash
Mashed Potatoes
Cole Slaw
Tossed Salad
Cranberry Sauce
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Crisp
Homemade bread and rolls
Drinks

Custom Awards:
Each year the Pumpkinman Triathlon will award our top 3 Elite and top 3 Age Group Overall Competitors in the Sprint Race, the top 5 Elite Competitors and top 3 Age Group Overall Competitors in the Long Course/Half Iron Race, the top 3 Overall Competitors and top 3 masters competitors in the Aqua Bike with a custom granite trophy etched by Etchex with the Pumpkinman logo. In addition, the top 3 male and female age group winners in the Sprint Race and Half Iron Race will be awarded a custom trophy. There are no duplicate awards, and out of respect for all award winners, you must be present to receive your award (no trophies will be mailed). All athletes who complete the Long Course/Half Iron will receive a custom Finisher’s Medal.

The Chairman of the Board Furniture Company of York, Maine, is pleased to present a custom engraved University Adirondack Chair to the first finisher (excluding top 5 in the half, top 3 in the sprint) from Eliot, South Berwick, Berwick, or North Berwick.

All age group winners will also receive a custom Pumpkinman gift.

Elite Athlete Prize Money:
There is an Elite Athlete’s purse for the Sprint Course totaling $2,000 and the Long Course/Half Iron totaling $4,998. An athlete must race in the Elite Division to qualify for prize money and is not eligible for Age Group Awards or Prizes. Because our prize purse is not above $5000, there is no need for a USAT Pro Card to race in the Elite Wave. If you chose to race in the Elite Wave you will only be eligible for Overall placing. You will not be eligible for Age Group Awards.

1st Place Male & Female Elite – $850
2nd Place Male & Female Elite – $650
3rd Place Male & Female Elite – $500
4th Place Male & Female Elite – $300
5th Place Male & Female Elite – $199

Race Foundation:
The Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival is a non-profit organization that was created in 2006. With experience developing and directing races such at the Sea to Summit Race, Aggieman, Eliot Duathlon, and Eliot Festival Days 5K, the The Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival Board of Directors are equipped to deliver a nationally sanctioned, well run, and safe event. With the support of the Town and the South Berwick Police Department, the Pumpkinman is sure to be an exciting event for multiple seacoast communities.

Beneficiary:
It is with great pleasure that we announce that ALL proceeds generated by the Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival will be donated within the South Berwick and Eliot communities. The proceeds will help establish student athlete scholarships and provide funding for athletic programs within the local community.
