Race Description

Winding through ancient woodland, pine forests, high moorland plateaux and grassy spaces, the Pony Express Ultra is a star fixture in the Extreme Energy event calendar – and we’re pleased to announce that it has been classified as a qualifying race for the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc! (1 point awarded).

Stimulating and varied, the forest tracks and pathways are perfect for walkers and runners. The route for The Pony Express Ultra has been recced and devised by Extreme Energy Race Director Neil Thubron, and offers some spectacular views as well as glimpses of New Forest ponies and native deer along the way. The race distance is equally split over the two days.

This is a circular route, starting and ending at Brockenhurst College, with overnight accommodation, evening meal and breakfast at Moyles Court Prep School included for 2-day participants and available at a supplement for 1-day participants. Sleeping accommodation is in the school hall, with dedicated rest area and dining area also provided. Also on Saturday evening we will have a guest speaker.

“The route was beautiful, and great to run without hardly touching a road, a real pleasure. All the checkpoints on both days were a welcome sight, superbly manned and very generously stocked with just the perfect goodies!! I could go on and on because there seemed to be so many little touches which just made the two days such a fantastic experience!’” – Pony Express Ultra 2012 competitor
