Race Description

A run with a difference! Race between the checkpoints as fast as you can, registering each one with an electronic timing chip, deciding your own route around the course. An orienteering race does not follow a set route. Instead you have to visit a series of checkpoints and the challenge is to decide what you think the quickest route will be between them and then to run your own way along that route using a special orienteering map. Courses for all ages and abilities, up to 5k.

The race is based around the extensive parkland and woodland of the Wycombe Abbey School grounds. It’s a great opportunity to have a run in an area that’s rarely open to the public, and it’s right in the centre of Wycombe, so it’s easy to access and only a few mins from the M40.

Registration and parking will be at Wycombe Abbey School, HP11 1PE. Just come along any time between 10am and 11.30am. Help will be available. Cost is just £5 (or £2 for juniors).

The courses will take you along paths and off-path, through the woods and parkland, so trainers or trail running shoes are ideal. A compass may be handy to bring, but we do have some to lend out. We also run a popular Saturday Series league for runners and have regular events around the Chilterns. Shorter courses will also be available for children and families.

Come and give this challenging adventure sport a go, it’s great for that Saturday morning run!
