Race The Lake is a Challenging marathon and a half marathon around beautiful Otsego Lake in Cooperstown NY

Race The Lake marathon and half marathon will take racers around beautiful Otsego lake in Cooperstown NY. You will run past such landmarks as the Otesaga Hotel, The Farmers Museum, The Fenimore Art Museum and The Baseball Hall Of Fame . The lake will always be on your right with awesome views of the surrounding area. The course is very challenging and runs on small county route roads through small villages .

The full 26.2 and the half 13.1 are certified by the USATF ,the race can be used as a Boston Marathon qualifier .

The course is also completely staffed with many local volunteers. Numerous water and aid stations and also bicycle patrols that ensure a safe and directed run. There will be 15 aid stations with 5 of them having GU , Honey Stingers and Power aid. Porta potties at mile 9 and about mile 14 for the Marathoners and mile 7 for the Half racers.

A bbq is included for all racers. Awards to the overall male and female of both races and also age group awards will be given to the top three in each . Tech shirts to those who register before May 15th 2016 are guaranteed. All finishers will receive a medal as well

There Will be NO registration for the half marathon at the starting point for the half. All ‘day of” registrations must be done at The Clark Sports Center before being transported to the start

I have just finished and solidified a change for Race The Lake. The 2017 race has partnered with Glimmerglass State Park .The Full marathon will be started and finished on the park grounds and the half will start near the Fenimore art museum and finish at the park. Because of the torrential down pours last year this change is for the safety and betterment of the racers and race. Both will be USATF certified; once again very soon, and run on the same course as in the past with very slight changes.

Gilmmerglass offers parking for many vehicles,showers,changing rooms, a swimming area with lifeguards,camping on site, bathrooms, playgrounds,covered pavilions, space for vendors, and support of Race The Lake. We will have a full day of racing and fun with family planned activities after you race. Canoe and kayak tours, numerous guided sensory hiking trails, displays by the Otsego County Land Trust, beer and wine tasting , food choices, and much more to be added soon. Did I mention beer and wine sampling. We have about 25 registered and starting to come in everyday now. The events team feels this change will give more to the race and let all enjoy the Lakes festival with all it has to offer at the finish. I look forward to seeing you all there and thank you.
