I have just finished and solidified a change for Race The Lake. The 2017 race has partnered with Glimmerglass State Park .The Full marathon will be started and finished on the park grounds and the half will start near the Fenimore art museum and finish at the park. Because of the torrential down pours last year this change is for the safety and betterment of the racers and race. Both will be USATF certified; once again very soon, and run on the same course as in the past with very slight changes.
Gilmmerglass offers parking for many vehicles, showers, changing rooms, a swimming area with lifeguards, camping on site, bathrooms, playgrounds, covered pavilions, space for vendors, and support of Race The Lake. We will have a full day of racing and fun with family planned activities after you race. Canoe and kayak tours, numerous guided sensory hiking trails, displays by the Otsego County Land Trust, beer and wine tasting , food choices, and much more to be added soon. Did I mention beer and wine sampling. We have about 25 registered and starting to come in everyday now. The events team feels this change will give more to the race and let all enjoy the Lakes festival with all it has to offer at the finish. I look forward to seeing you all there and thank you.
