Race Description

On Saturday, September 21, 2013 Furry Friends Network will hold its 8th annual Race for Their Lives at Gifford Pinchot State Park, Conewago Day Use Area. This event includes a 5K trail run and 2-mile fun walk and helps to raise desperately needed funds for veterinary care for the animals in our program. Your help will make a significant difference in the lives of these homeless and unwanted animals as 100% of our funds are directed to their care.

At Race for Their Lives 2013 we race to beat cancer and remember all our furry friends that lost their battle with the disease. Cancer is the leading cause of death for companion animals. WALK OR RUN! SUPPORT RACE FOR THEIR LIVES
BY RAISING MONETARY PLEDGES TO HELP BEAT CANCER AND SAVE MORE ANIMALS IN NEED!

Well behaved, physically fit, spayed/neutered, licensed and currently vaccinated canine companions are welcome and will receive some special attention for their participation.

Runners and walkers will have separate starting points.

LUNCH will follow the race.Your RACE PACKET will include a Race for Their Lives 2013 T-Shirt, goodies from our sponsors and 20 free Raffle Tickets to win great Door Prizes.

Consistent with state park regulations, raffle tickets will NOT be sold at the event. Tickets will be sold prior to the event via the FirstGiving Registration Process in conjunction with your race registration or by mailing the below REGISTRATION/RAFFLE TICKET PURCHASE FORM with your payment. The additional raffle tickets purchased will be included in your registration packet. Additional raffle tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, September 18, 2013, consistent with the advance registration deadline. $10.00 for 20 Tickets; $20.00 or 50 Tickets for $40 for 100 tickets and $75 for 200 tickets. Door Prize winners will be drawn while the race staff compiles winner results.

In addition to PRIZE AWARDS for the top three fundraisers, race prizes will be awarded for: 1st Place Fundraising Team, 1st Place Team Run and Walk Winners, 1st Place Canine Run and Walk Winners, and 1st Place Individual Run and Walk Winners, male and female, in 5 age categories, 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and over. Special Canine prizes will be awarded for pre-registered and participating Oldest, Youngest, Largest and Smallest Canines.

Registration is $35 per person until Wednesday, September 18, and $40 per person on Race Day. Register as an individual or form a three member team! Teams will consist of three members only. No teams of combined runners and walkers allowed. Three member team times are totaled for a team score. All team members are also eligible for individual awards. Advance Registration Deadline is Wednesday, September 18. Advance registration is strongly encouraged. By registering in advance and having your pledges totaled and marked in a separate envelope, event day race packet pick up will be significantly expedited. RACE DAY REGISTRATION AND RACE PACKET PICKUP 7:45 – 8:45 a.m. ** Please have your pledges totaled and your FirstGiving donation sheet printed to hand to registration volunteers when you pick up your race packet on event morning. Enjoy BREAKFAST foods and pick out your favorite DOOR PRIZES while you wait for the starter pistol. RACE STARTS AT 9:00 a.m.
