Race Description
LA ULTRA – The HIGH – one of the MOST (probably the MOST)exciting and challenging races of the modern times. It is the world’s highest and toughest ultra-marathon. Held in the soaring Himalayan peaks, the race crosses the two highest motor-able mountain passes in the world. This event is put together by a set of very passionate people from across the globe, but at the same time, extremely professional.
The last editions of La Ultra – The High has received much international media attention and has been featured in many prestigious publications including ‘Forbes Life’(India), ‘Running Fitness’ (UK) and ‘Esquire Magazine’ (USA), as well as the Collins (2011) ‘World’s Ultimate Running Races’ book. The event has been covered by all major Indian national & regional newspapers (35+ articles).
Currently,there are three documentaries (http://www.thehigh.in/The_High/Videos.html) being made on La Ultra – The High by US, Australia and New Zealand based production companies.

- How to Find Start Line: Starting 11 km outside of Khardung Village, at approx 14,000 ft, the route ascends to an altitude of 17,700 ft (Khardung La) before descending down to 11,483 ft (Leh) then climbing up to an altitude of 17,583 ft (Tanglang La) before the descent to the finish line at 15,000 ft (Morey Plains).
