Race Description

The Air Force Marathon is a runner’s dream with a 26.2-mile run that traverses historical places on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, including the National Museum of the United States Air Force, the Air Force Institute of Technology, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, the Wright-Patterson AFB flight line, Huffman Prairie Flying Field, and the Wright Brothers Memorial Monument.

The Air Force Half Marathon features a flat and fast course including a scenic loop route. Beginning in Area B of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base runners will travel 13.1 miles past beautiful, tree-lined Marl Road, historic brick quarters and along the outer edge of Wright State University.

The 10K race will take place within Wright-Patterson Air Force Base’s Area B, where runners will get to see historic buildings as well as facilities housing cutting-edge research and technology. The last mile of the race will pass the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force’s Presidential Hangar and finish among several historic aircraft static displays. The course is sure to be a great experience for the casual runner as well as the competitive athlete.

The 5K Race will take place Friday, September 16, 2011 in conjunction with Wright State University. Runners will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Ervin J. Nutter Center and wind through the campus of Wright State University, finishing back at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. A post-race celebration and awards ceremony will follow.
